What Reflection Threatens

Most senior leaders aren’t avoiding reflection because they don’t have time. Often, what’s at risk in reflection is noticing. Questioning the old story they’ve relied on about who they have to be to succeed.

It’s a story that feels familiar. A story that feels safe. Sometimes, they think it’s the only story they know. Even if they can imagine another.

The uncertainty of a new story feels like pain. Pain that one can avoid by staying exactly where they are in leadership style and growth.

What’s harder to see is the quiet cost of holding onto that story. The strain on their health, their relationships, and the teams they lead.

The question isn’t whether there will be discomfort. It's, which discomfort are you willing to tolerate?

Sometimes the safest story is the one that costs you the most.

Reflection doesn’t burn you. It reveals what’s already smoldering.
